Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport

Located in Yubei District, 19 kilometers away from the downtown of Chongqing, Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport serves as a national major aviation hub and one of the eight hub airports in China. In 2013, it became the fifth airport in China to implement the policy of 72-hour visa free transit.

Up to December 2015, Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport is the base for eight airline companies, including Air China, Sichuan Airlines, West Air, Chongqing Airlines (shares held by China Southern Airlines), China Express, Xiamen Air, Shenzhen Airlines and Shandong Airlines. It has opened 234 domestic and international air routes, of which 60 are international and regional routes, covering Europe, the United States, Australia and Asia. Of 60 international routes, there are 38 international passenger routes, covering the destinations of San Francisco, Sydney, Rome, Helsinki, Singapore, Seoul, Tokyo, Osaka, Male, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Doha, Hong Kong, Macao and Taipei etc., and the other 22 routes are international cargo routes, covering the destinations of Amsterdam, Liege, Seoul, Bangkok, Frankfurt and Almaty etc..

Currently, Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport has two terminals: Terminal 1 serving flights toward Hong Kong, Macau and other foreign cities, and Terminal 2 serving domestic flights, covering a total area of 200,000 m2. The airport has two runways which are as long as 3,200 meters and 3,600 meters respectively; a 760,000m2-tarmac; 92 regular gate positions and 13 temporary gate positions;a total cargo storage area of 90,000 m2. All the facilities can handle 30 million passengers person time, 550,000 tons of cargos and deliveries, and 260,000 taking-offs and landings. Terminal 3 is under construction, stretching over 1,060 meters in south-north orientation and 750 meters in east-west orientation. It consists of central E area and four corridors, namely A, B, C, D, covering a total covered area of about 530,000 m2. The cable-installed glazed facade which covers about 75,000 m2 is Asia's largest cable-installed curtain wall system.
