Jinfo Mountain is the only large tourist attraction in Chongqing that has up to eight titles, including World’s Natural Heritage, National Park of China, National Forest Park, National Nature Reserve, first batch of China Association for Science & Technology, National Natural Heritage, 5A National Tourist Attraction, China’s Most Influential Tourist Attraction, and National Civil Tourist Attraction.
Jinfo Mountain has been listed as World’s Natural Heritage for its species diversity and unique karst land-form. It is awarded as “Eastern Alps”. “What a marvel Jinfo is, towering into rosy clouds” is a line to describe Jinfo mountain. When there is no cloud at dawn in summer or autumn, lingering lights of sunset cover the mountain and its cliffs with gold. Jinfo Mountain looks like a giant Buddha with millions of golden lights coming out from its body, forming a spectacular view. This is the source of the name “Jinfo”, which means golden Buddha in Chinese.
Jinfo Mountain is a jade engraved in southwest China. It has the name “Natural Plant Gallery”. In the 250,000 mu of original evergreen forest, there are 2,997 types of plants from 237 families. The attraction has unique natural scenery, multiple types of rare animals and plants, marvelous rock appearance, mysterious and deep caves, unpredictable meteorological views and famous ancient temples. Therefore, it is praised to be one of the four famous mountains in Sichuan and Chongqing. The other three are Emei Mountain, Qingcheng Mountain and Jinyun Mountain.
